Unsorted waste is a major problem in Kathmandu. Only a fraction of collected waste is recycled, which means more than 60% of recyclable materials end up in landfills, rivers, dump sites or burned. This not only affects the environment and the people who live around these places but also brings a high risk of disease.

We are among Nepal’s first commercial waste management companies and since our establishment in 1994, we have been working tirelessly to effectively manage household solid waste with the cooperation from the Department of Environment & Waste Management of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Waste Concern guarantees the separation of recyclable solid waste, enabling the production of organic fertilizers, and contribution to the economy by generating employment opportunities within the Kathmandu Valley.

40% to 60% of organic waste is sold to companies who produce organic fertilizer

15% to 25% of recyclables like plastics, textiles, metals, glass & papers is sold to factories to manufacture new products

Only 15% to 25% of the waste material we collect actually ends up in landfills

As leaders in the waste management industry, we have the ability to make a real difference. With our efforts we can create a better and healthier environment and prevent more than 85% of waste from ending up in landfills, thereby providing a cleaner city and neighbourhood to live in.
